Investigation of Sustainable Touring for Two Young Bands from Denmark and Germany

The pilot project H+H – Herning to Hannover: Empowering Youth Through Sustainable Touring is at the forefront of redefining the touring industry by introducing the innovative concepts of slow and deep touring—a sustainable touring model. Slow touring relies on slower, greener public transportation, while deep touring is based on the principle of giving back to local communities more than taking in resources. This pilot project rethinks sustainability, youth engagement, and community empowerment in Denmark and Germany. By addressing the challenges of the music industry with innovative solutions, we not only contribute to the fight against climate change but also foster young musicians’ active citizenship, mental well-being, and social entrepreneurship while promoting inclusion and diversity across borders.

Through two slow & deep tours in May and June 2025, two young up-and-coming bands—from Denmark and Germany—will explore the impact of traveling more slowly using greener modes of transportation in a public context, while also discovering how they can give back to local communities based on their specific needs.
