Creative Collaboration Between Denmark and Armenia for Human Rights
The refugee situation in Armenia, caused by the escalating conflict with neighboring Azerbaijan, is having a long-term impact on Armenian society, as many people are forced to live in exile and diaspora. Art can create shared spaces that bridge gaps—socially, culturally, and in conflicts.
A planned partnership meeting between Swinging Europe (DK) and Hub Artsakh (AM) in January 2025 will focus on the role of art in fostering connections—among young Danish and Armenian musicians, the local community, and displaced refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The kick-off meeting in Armenia from January 17-20, 2025, will lay the foundation for a newly reimagined 2025 edition of Hub Artsakh’s Sunrise Stepanakert Art Festival and solidify a future Nordic-Caucasian collaboration focusing on creative youth. The goal is to strengthen networks and create opportunities for young Danish and Armenian artists.
The festival will revitalize the cultural scene, highlight young local artists, and address creative responses to the Artsakh war. By planning a long-term festival that grows through international collaboration, the project ensures a sustainable cultural revival.
Engaging Key Target Groups
The project will involve three main groups:
-
Collaborating organizations
-
Young artists (18–25 years old) from Denmark and Armenia
-
Displaced refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh
The focus is on workshops, concerts, and film screenings that promote intercultural dialogue and artistic exchange, emphasizing human rights, inclusion, and sustainability.
Strengthening Culture & Community Through Art
The partnership between Swinging Europe and Hub Artsakh aims to rebuild culture and community in Armenia through art. The January 2025 kick-off meeting will initiate a new artistic collaboration festival, creating networks between young artists from Denmark and Armenia while also engaging refugees from Artsakh.
The festival will promote human rights and sustainable cultural development in a conflict-affected region.
