A Regional Cultural Hub for Young and Old – The Culture Container
In 2023, ContainArtSound emerged as a cross-cultural project involving six Mid and West Jutland cultural institutions:
Mejeriet in Tarm
Slagteriet in Holstebro
Museum Salling in Skive
UrbanStreetZoneBrande
Bystuen in Vinderup
DSI Swinging Europe in Herning
The selection of partners was based on diversity—in size, content, and geography—to ensure a broad range of activities, allowing each partner to add their own unique touch to the project.
Throughout the project, documentation was carried out in the form of films, photos, and drawings by partners, participants, and audiences. This material has now been compiled into an online book, showcasing both the exciting creative development and a documentary film capturing the project’s journey from June to November 2023.

Partner Evaluations
📌 Slagteriet in Holstebro:
“This project has been a fantastic experience for Slagteriet. The collaboration across municipalities and institutions was exciting, and it was positively recognized by our local stakeholders. It was inspiring to see how each location transformed the container in their own unique way.”
📌 Bystuen in Vinderup:
“A mysterious container landed in the middle of Vinderup, disrupting the familiar cityscape. With the help of artists, it attracted new activities, energy, and conversations about public spaces. In collaboration with local children, the empty foreign container transformed into a magical den. And then—just like that—it was gone again.”
📌 Mejeriet in Tarm:
“The project offered an exciting experience for students who got the chance to paint on the container. A boarding school teacher specializing in graffiti was thrilled to practice ‘real’ graffiti in a public space.”
📌 Museum Salling in Skive:
“This project has been invaluable for networking, particularly in building our museum’s art school. A future development could involve connecting cities, perhaps as a traveling event where participants follow the project across locations for a more cohesive experience.”
📌 Swinging Europe in Herning:
“Swinging Europe initiated the idea, managed logistics, and handled funding applications. The challenge was coordinating communication and engagement between partners to ensure awareness of all events. Moving forward, we would benefit from additional pop-up meetings to discuss progress and ideas.”
CONTAINCULTURESPORT
Following the success of CONTAINARTSOUND, a new initiative, CONTAINCULTURESPORT, was launched. This project combined Kulturfest Herning (June 10-16, 2024) and DM-Week (June 17-25, 2024)—a celebration of sports and culture in Herning.

A 20-foot container was placed outside Huset 7 in Nørregade, Herning.
Decorated with artistic symbols, matching the project’s branding.
