2020 var et år, der på samtlige måder, ikke kunne forudsees: Med en mere eller mindre almindelig start, skulle vise sig at vende fra marts – corona-pandemien fandt indtog i ikke kun hele udlandet, men også Danmark.
I internationalt regi flyttede vi projektledelse og partnermøder over på den virtuelle Zoom-tjeneste i Creative Europe-projekterne MoSaIC og LIBERTY, mens afviklingen af vores nordiske talentudviklingsprojekt Young Nordic Star formåede at undslippe restriktionerne før udbruddet tilbage i februar.
Lokalt og regionalt slog Swinging Europe som institution tonen an i det herningensiske musikliv, da større internationale foretagender viste sig at blive problematiske; det lokalbaserede projekt Museet som Muse kombinerede Herningsholms historiske rammer med elektronisk musikproduktion under nedlukningsperioden, mens MOORJAZZ Festival 2020 tog en corona-venlig form med en række koncerter med kendte navne og up-and-coming musikere fordelt på diverse spillesteder over en uges tid.
Vi tog initiativ til at få livemusikken ud til isolerede ældre på plejecentrene i Herning Kommune med Trivselskoncerter i løbet af sommeren, for både at få professionelle musikere i arbejde, i samme åndedrag, som vi tog hensyn til udsatte personer – med god afstand og håndsprit under ordnede forhold. Ligeledes fik 70 børn muligheden for at få gøgl og sprælsk livemusik for fuld blæs på Fermaten, da vi arrangerede børnekoncert med bandet Ørehængerne til stor glæde.
I regionalt regi lagde anden installation af Kunstneren på Genvisit – Danseren på Genvisit – vejen forbi dagsinstitutioner med tre dansere fra Black Box Dance Company, da kulturmødet med småbørn blev direkte kreativ gensidig inspiration kunstner og børn imellem.
PLAY!GROUND LIVE 2020 blev afviklet, dog under nye omstændigheder og vi deltog i at udbrede budskabet omkring, samt var en aktiv aktør i det lokale kulturlivs revitalisering med HerningErKulturs genåbningsmanifest.

2020 was a year that, in every way, could not have been foreseen: Starting off more or less normally, it turned around in March – as the coronavirus pandemic broke out not only abroad but also in Denmark.
Internationally, we shifted project management and partner meetings to the virtual Zoom platform for the Creative Europe projects MoSaIC and LIBERTY, while our Nordic talent development project Young Nordic Star managed to avoid restrictions by commencing before the outbreak in February.
Locally and regionally, Swinging Europe as an institution set the tone in Herning’s music scene, as larger international initiatives proved to be problematic; the locally based project Museet som Muse combined Herningsholm’s historic setting with electronic music production during the lockdown period, while MOORJAZZ Festival 2020 took a corona-friendly form with a series of concerts featuring established names and up-and-coming musicians spread across various venues over the course of a week.
We took the initiative to bring live music to isolated elderly residents in Herning Municipality’s care homes through Trivselskoncerter during the summer, both to get professional musicians back to work and, at the same time, to care for vulnerable individuals – with proper distancing and hand sanitizer under organized conditions. Likewise, 70 children had the opportunity to enjoy lively, playful live music to the fullest at Fermaten, when we organized a children’s concert with the band Ørehængerne to great delight.
Regionally, the second installment of Kunstneren på Genvisit – Danseren på Genvisit – paved the way for daycare institutions with three dancers from Black Box Dance Company, as the cultural encounter with toddlers sparked direct, creative mutual inspiration between the artists and the children.
PLAY!GROUND LIVE 2020 took place, albeit under new circumstances, and we contributed to spreading the message and were active participants in the revitalization of the local cultural scene with HerningErKulturs reopening manifesto.
