Aktivitetsrapport 2017 / Activity Report 2017

The year 2017 was marked by a European spirit in Swinging Europe’s continued work on networking projects within the international cultural scene. Exciting developments took place both at home and abroad, not only through our projects but also in the creation of collaborative partnerships across geographic boundaries.

Regionally, we once again participated in Kulturgården’s annual event, Culture in the Dark, where the artist Lord B spoke about sustainability to children and youthful souls. Meanwhile, the InVITAtion Lab initiative continued its tour across the Mid- and West Jutland municipalities, engaging young people in local communities for active civic participation and creative problem-solving. Additionally, the major cultural festival – Off Road Festival – was celebrated in April with great fanfare, with Swinging Europe contributing to the musical lineup through the trio Migrant Music and the new pilot project, PLAY!GROUND LIVE NORDIC, which held concerts for the audience.

Internationally, we launched several collaborative projects in 2017 that ventured into uncharted interdisciplinary territories. The Erasmus+ project Culture ShoX, held in Cyprus and Herning, explored the potential of theater and music as a voice for young Europeans and immigrants. The results and experiences from this intercultural project were subsequently presented at the Tools Conference in Herning from November 29–30, where we participated as partners. During the two-day conference, a film collage from the youth camps was shown to a broad audience, including national and international representatives from the cultural sector.
