Swinging Europe celebrates its 30th anniversary.
For three decades, Swinging Europe has broken down barriers and built bridges through art, culture, and the sounds of fantastic music. Now, we are celebrating this milestone with a spectacular gala on October 2nd—an evening dedicated to what unites us across cultures, religions, and borders.
"From the very beginning, our vision has been crystal clear: music should bring worlds together. We create a space for coexistence, rooted in a deep respect for our differences—all while honoring our own cultural DNA.
With our roots in Herning, we have reached out to the entire world for 30 years. We have fostered encounters between people, traditions, and forms of expression that might otherwise never have crossed paths. Where words and politics fail, music steps in as the ultimate universal language," says Jacob Mangwana Haagendal, Director of Swinging Europe in Herning.
Music leads the way forward
"In a world marked by global tensions, cultural ties are more essential than ever. We are seeing a powerful example of this right now: despite opposition from various quarters, the DR Big Band is traveling to the USA, playing to sold-out venues. They are encountering audiences who confirm that music and culture still have the power to bring us together. It is precisely this commitment to dialogue and artistic exchange that points the way toward the future."
Anniversary Gala with the DR Big Band—tickets are completely free! Swinging Europe is incredibly proud to present the DR Big Band—led by their chief conductor, the Grammy-nominated Japanese composer and conductor Miho Hazama—as the headline act for their 30th-anniversary celebration! Get ready for a festive, atmospheric, and unforgettable gala evening. Swinging Europe is celebrating three decades of international cultural collaboration and setting a course for the future. The goal is a packed hall at Textilen and an evening that radiates the sense of community we have cultivated for 30 years.
25th Anniversary with PLAYGROUND LIVE and Bo Stief: An Uplifting Concert Experience After a fantastic run of live concerts featuring young super-talents, composer, leader, and mentor Bo Stief will perform his final concerts with Playground Live in Herning—under the auspices of Swinging Europe—on September 30 and October 1. Throughout this long journey from the early 2000s to the present, Bo Stief—driven by dedication, high energy, and a love for both music and people—has launched the careers of many of today’s stars: musicians who now play with Lukas Graham, Bremer/McCoy, Heise Quadrillion, Liga, Cort Lunde, Tobias Rahim, and many others. For these final concerts, a special "grand finale" band has been assembled, featuring a mix of past and present Playground stars to ensure the project ends on a high note.
Over the years, foundations, Herning Municipality, and the business community have supported our cultural projects, recognizing the powerful results the music creates. You now benefit from that support: while tickets normally cost DKK 350, Swinging Europe is offering them for free on both days to mark the anniversary.
